Things that made me happy today...
Yesterday, I received a wonderful surprise...these gorgeous flowers from one of my best girlfriends....just because she was thinking of me and is such a lovely person...
their warmth & beauty made me feel so happy when I came down to see them bathed in September morning sunlight today, that I decided to look around for more reasons to be cheerful! There were so many when I began to look....
Rose Bay Willowherb (fantastic name).....
spider webs hanging like tiny, diamond safety nets in the dewy grass...
Do you think that this is how a flower smiles?!
Someone who always makes me happy...enjoying the warmth...
hawthorn berries....
and blackberries starting to ripen - true signs of the changing season...
and this chapel of trees on the way home....that's the only way to describe it, I think...
I love Autumn so much, and the signs that its on the way were everywhere.
I got into the car feeling so much better....turned on the radio....and heard this just beginning..
How can I ever be sad when there is such beauty all around?
Happy September - wishing you a wonderful week xo
just lovely.
ReplyDeleteI adore this time of year too.

What a wonderful post! Autumn is such a time of thanksgiving. I love seeing all of your blessings on the way home. The chapel of trees lining the sun lit path was beckoninge to enter into the surrounding beauty.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful rest of the week Rachael!

Happy September, dear Rachel! Being able to appreciate the beauty in everyday things is a gift, and in it lies true happiness. Autumn is my favourite season. I am glad it is giving you so many reasons to be cheerful! By the way, the blackberries in our yard are starting to ripen, too! Enjoy the rest of the week! Love you! xoxo

Listening to the piano concerto right now. Those pictures are lovely. I love autumn too, as you know, but these days, with work and the temperature that is too warm for my taste, I find it difficult to fully appreciate September.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you're surrounded by so many joys! Autumn is my fave season too. We don't really have it here tho last year we did but how I remember NYC and the chill in the air, the briskness, and the smell of chestnuts in vendors' carts. That's not even mentioning the autumn leaves. Happy fall!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet friend you have:)... such beautiful flowers and images of the closing of a lovely season. Hope you're gearing up for fall... :)

Sweet friend--and sweet perspective. ♥
ReplyDeleteWe are actually going to have a semi-Autumnal day tomorrow---we've had an extraordinary amount of 90F+ days this summer....the wind has picked up and tomorrow's high is supposed to be in the 70's. It should be delightful!!! I love all of your favorite things.... you have captured such magic all around you.

ReplyDeleteHello Dear Rachel!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a lovely September and I love all the berries you have shown us here, they remind me of the drawings by Edith Holden, in "The Country Diary of An Edwardian Lady".

Hi Rachel! I have never commented before, but have enjoyed reading your lovely blog that I found through our mutual girlfriend, Susan Branch.Being the mother of 'natural' twins, I just wanted to say what a blessing those triplets are! I know I felt like I had won the lottery when I found out about mine, so excited and happy! So congratulations to your goddaughter and family! I also love Mozart's music, not that I know too much about classical, but I find what I do like, tends to be him! You have a wonderful eye for seeing the beauty in everyday things, much like Susan. Thank you for such a lovely escape!
