A quick hello from my sickbed!
I hardly ever get ill...but I'm not too good at the moment and I resent it SO much! I've still been walking Alice (I'm not that bad...& she gets very energetic when she doesn't have a walk!)...but I've found that every step feels as though my legs are made from lead! I've done a little bit of work too, but thankfully this is a relatively 'light' week on the baking front...so I've been able to rest quite a lot, which is really all that I need - together with some paracetamol and plenty of fluids. I'll be back to normal tomorrow...but I made this little video for you yesterday evening...
As you can see, I'm being well looked after by my furry nurse...and Paul is being lovely too, bringing me tea & hot toast at regular intervals!
I'll be back very soon...sending much love, but no kisses this time - I don't want to transfer those germs!! xo

Oh, I can certainly hear that nasty cold in your voice. Hope you continue to rest and that you are feeling well soon. It's truly wonderful the devotion of our beloved pets. They stay by us through all the ups and downs and never complain. Alice is such a cutie and makes a great companion I'm sure. Thanks for sharing the video, I love hearing your voice even when it's raspy. Hugs
ReplyDeleteVery literary of you, writing from your sickbed! Sleety-rainy-cold and miserable here. Staying in, since I don't have a Nurse Alice to care for me if I fall over with a cold. You r speaking in chords (no pun intended)! Listen to your sad little voice--no clear notes there! Be well! Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness Rachel; your voice gets exactly the way mine does when I'm ill; yes, REST is the best cure and having Alice close as your healing companion is just precious. Feel better soon dear friend.....and stay out of the brownie-soaking rains...

Oh I feel your pain! Winter colds are the worst ones! Just take it easy, drink plenty of water and sleep and rest.
ReplyDeleteDear Rachel,
ReplyDeleteSending healing Mozart wishes your way!
Hope you enjoy some hot chicken soup with lots of black pepper, that is the BEST thing to have.
Take care of yourself!
Love,
Kay Alice is adorable and she also wants you to get well, I can tell.
Oh, Rachel, I hope you will feel much better soon!! I'm glad you are being well looked after and don't have too much work to do! Get better soon!! Hugs, Silke
ReplyDeleteDear Miss Unkissable--you sound like crap! I hope you feel better soon. Reminds me of that Friends episode where Phoebe liked her husky sick voice then went around licking stuff to get her cold back. I'm impressed with Alice's nursing abilities. She seems to be involved with mainly just lying there--like a lesbian under a sub-par hunk. Get up Alice! Fetch some meds for Miss Unkissable! Sending healing vibrations and plastic wrapped hugggggs. Hope you're up and at 'em tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteAh, like all the literary greats, sweet Keats regularly wrote from his sickbed. Unlike you of course, he was dead by your age! Love and Nursing hugs sent to you through these glass tubes that bring you closer to me, until we are closer.....xxxxxxx
ReplyDeleteoh I hope you are better now.

Sending healthy vibes to you from "across the pond," Rachel. Feeling under the weather is NO fun!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I cannot concentrate after reading Nancy's comment! She is so funny and so out there, I literally cannot think straight now!
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, I am so sorry that you are poorly at the moment, it is truly rotten to have the wind knocked out of your sails, but at least you have wonderful caring Paul and Alice to nurse you better.
I am poorly too and am so thankful for the love and attention from hubby and pooch, how could we ever live without them?!
I hope you are feeling better now and you are able to relax and enjoy your weekend with your loves.
Sending love and warm mentholated hugs
