My March Garden..

Things are really moving in the garden now...the brilliant green spikes in the back of the bed here are Paul's beloved day lilies. The change from last month is incredible..
I think it's a result of lots of rain combined with a good few days (including today) of sunshine. While the temperatures aren't really what I'd call warm yet (hovering around 8c) and the wind is bitter, the days are so much longer now...and when the sun does shine, there's some power in it...

The hydrangeas won't be long now..

And the roses that I pruned so assiduously a few weeks ago are springing into life - a few weeks ago they looked like a lot of dry brown twigs!

The 'bird tree' (I don't know what it is!) is sprouting emerald foliage, which the blackbirds, robins and bluetits love to perch in..

soon little button heart that hangs there will be completely hidden....
I've been weeding every fine day...soon it will be time to sweep the path and plant some new perennials - once the threat of frost is past...

But for now it's still a bit chilly to be out there too much!

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend! xoxo

  5. Enjoyed this post, Rachel. Although we have green appearing, we actually had some snow this morning! No lingering about for evidence, though. It was gone as quickly as it came. We have a small patch of spinach that we are hopeful will show some good growth after the winter, but it's too soon to tell at this point.

Hope your week will be off to a super start!
